Could you complete the Kilbryde Hike?

19 May, 2016
We are super excited to announce that we are partnering with the Boys Brigade for this year’s Kilbryde Hike!
Our supporters can now sign up for the Kilbryde Hike as a sponsored event in aid of Kilbryde Hospice.
The annual Kilbryde Hike is a 33 mile, 2 day endurance event organised by current and former East Kilbride Boys Brigade members. The event has been going for over 40 years and is open to both male and female participants and this year, all ages are invited to take part! The three man/girl competitive event challenges fitness, navigation and map reading skills as well as encouraging and developing team work, leadership and communication skills.
Teams must carry the full equipment for outdoor survival, including camping out overnight at a designated campsite. They must navigate from checkpoint to checkpoint and gain points for the time taken to get there, lose points if they out with the allocated time for doing so and gain extra points if they are early during what are called “speed sections”. They can also gain further additional points by undertaking a specific challenge at each checkpoint that can range from an assault course, a physical skills challenge to a variety of quizzes or tests on their knowledge of first aid and the environment – something for everyone! All teams must have at least one member who is competent in the use of maps and compasses.
The Boys Brigade is a non-profit making organisation, and we are delighted to be partnering with them to allow our supporters to join in their fundraising efforts and chose to support Kilbryde Hospice in doing so!
This year’s event will be held on 11th – 12th June and will start in Auldhouse at 8am on the Saturday morning.
