It’s always a varied week at Kilbryde Hospice and there is never a dull moment. Here are just some of our highlights from this week:
Monday 29th February – fatBuzz 29 for 29 on 29
Our friends at fatBuzz decided to mark the leap year this year by dedicating their time to helping out Kilbryde Hospice. In the lead up to Monday 29th February fatBuzz encouraged individuals and businesses to donate £29 on the 29th in return for fatBuzz visiting their clients on the day armed with their charming bears and completing any challenges given to them. One of our personal favourites from the day seen F3 Entertainment challenge David and Kyle to some impromptu karaoke (if the Backstreet Boys ever require back up when in Glasgow we suggest they look no further!).
At the end of the day, after a 4am wake up call, Gordon White came along to the hospice to present a cheque for £5500! We would like to thank our amazing friends at fatBuzz for choosing to support Kilbryde Hospice and to everyone who donated towards the campaign.
Tuesday 1st March – Expressive Art
Our Day Services offers a variety of activities tailored to those with life limiting illnesses. This week patients were encouraged to get creative and create some fantastic works of art. Art therapy and art making are inherently perceptual and sensory based, involving the brain and the body in ways that verbal language often cannot. Some of our patients can find it difficult to write. Thus art therapy allows our patients to use their hands, get involved in activities and most importantly express themselves.
Wednesday 2nd March – Therapet JJ
It has to be said that we are most definitely animal lovers at Kilbryde Hospice!
We were truly spoiled when the beautiful JJ came along to our Drop-in Service to meet with staff and patients. JJ is a therapet and is a border collie cross. He came along to the hospice today with his owner John to brighten up our patient’s day.
As you can see JJ loved posing for the camera and the patients thoroughly enjoyed petting JJ and giving him some treats.
JJ and John will be visiting the hospice on alternative Thursdays at 1.30pm at our Drop-in area. We can’t wait until the next visit!
