A South Lanarkshire garage McKinnon’s Auto & Tyres have shown their support for Kilbryde Hospice, a cause very close to their hearts, by sponsoring the patient transport bus.

The garage which is a family run business located in East Kilbride formed just over 2 years ago after the McKinnon family realised that their Paisley garage was too far for their own friends and family to travel too.

Robert, a local ex Scotland International Footballer, brother Steven McKinnon and sister Anne  decided to support the hospice as their late mum, Kate, had always planned to volunteer at the hospice when it opened as she had previously worked as a nurse in Philipshill and Hairmyres for over 30 years. Sadly though Kate passed away before she could realise her dream of volunteering for the hospice.

After Steven’s fiancé Janice began volunteering for the hospice and seen the support and care they offer the siblings decided they had to help out. They decided to sponsor the mini bus which the hospice uses to pick up any patients who require transport to the hospice.

However their support for the hospice didn’t stop there. The family were keen to raise funds to help the hospice open their in-patient facility. The family run garage also offer a loyalty card scheme which means that for every customer who visits the garage for tyres, servicing, repairs, spray painting or damage caused by an accident and if they quote ‘Kilbryde Hospice’ then McKinnon will donate a percentage to the hospice at no cost to the customer.

You can pick up a loyalty card from McKinnon Auto and Tyres or from the reception at Kilbryde Hospice. For more information on McKinnon you can follow them on Facebook. Kilbryde Hospice is open with Day Services and Drop-In running throughout the week, with a view to opening the in-patient facility later this year offering specialist palliative care to those affected by a life limiting illness. To find out more about the hospice you can visit their website or call them on 01355 202020.
