Kilbryde Hospice volunteer’s befrienders’ role is to provide friendship and one to one support to patients with a life-limiting illness and their carers. We aim to support those who are socially isolated and may be at risk due to their age, health or disability and aims to reduce stress and anxiety. A Kilbryde Hospice volunteer befriender provides informal support and a “listening ear” to patients with a life limiting illness in their own home. This allows carers time for themselves.
Patient & Carer Comments
” I loved the nurse support visits and the befriending, being listened to. I learned to talk about my feelings.”
