Sainsbury’s Olympia store located in the East Kilbride Shopping Centre presented Kilbryde Hospice with a cheque for over £4,000. The store selected the hospice as their Charity of the Year partner which ran from May 2014 to May 2015 and raised the fantastic total through numerous fundraising activities.

In order to raise this amount colleagues at the store took part in various events, in and out of their normal work hours. Checkouts manager Jane Bald took part in a Firewalk, former store manager Andrew Ferguson is due to take part in a Skydive. Staff from the store also completed a sponsored walk round the Heritage Loch in East Kilbride as well as holding Tombola events and bag packing days in store. Finally the store also placed Kilbryde collecting cans at the checkout tills and donated the carrier bag charge to the hospice.

Community and Events Fundraiser, Chloe Martin said “We are so grateful to not only have been nominated last year but also to have went on to become the charity partner for Sainsbury’s Olympia. All the staff at Sainsbury’s were amazing to work with and really showed how passionate they were about fundraising for the hospice. When companies like Sainsbury’s choose to support our work, it really makes a huge difference, allowing us to provide care and support to people with life limiting conditions and their families, when they need us most.

Customer Service Manager, Jane Bald added “Staff across the store have worked hard to ensure we could support Kilbryde Hospice throughout the year to help continue the charity’s great work they do.”
