Trek 2018 – We need your help!

We are very excited to be planning a brand new fundraising trek for 2018, and we are looking for some advice!

Our options are a Sudetes Mountain Trek (Czech Republic & Poland) or an El Camino de Santiago Trek (Spain) and we would appreciate any comments, preferences or opinions on either!

The Sudetes stretch from eastern Germany to Poland and the Czech Republic, and feature wide open spaces with picturesque sweeping valleys; mountain pine covered slopes and fresh, clean air. Each day of the trek is filled with breath-taking views and the chance to experience the common culture and history of both Poland and the Czech Republic, as the Sudetes is the place where these intriguing countries come to meet.

The 5 day trek will allow you to experience the Elbe River (one of the greatest rivers in Europe) an ascent of the Rownia Pod Sniezka, direct access to the Sniezka Peak (the highest peak in the Sudetes) and a break at the twelfth century Lutheran Temple Wang – to name a few highlights!

A journey millions of pilgrims have completed over thousands of years, the El Camino de Santiago – otherwise known as ‘The Way of St James’ – is one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in the world and is a World Heritage Site.

The 5 day trek will take you through pretty villages and peaceful hamlets under the shade of oak trees and along quiet country roads. Starting from the beautiful village of Portomarin and crossing the River Mino, you will rise uphill steadily towards the Serra Ligonde – on route you can stop to visit the Romanesque Church of Santa Maria on Castromaior, the Romanesque Church in Eirexe and the Chapel of Santa Irene. See pretty woods and sleepy villages before catching a glimpse of the Cathedral of Santiago, your finishing point.
