Brian’s Season Long Walk – Walk 8

18 December, 2020

As the festive season quickly approaches us, walk 8 tied in with the Annual Santa Dash on the weekend of the 12th and 13th of December. I was joined by lifelong friend Colin Kerr as well as Gordon McHugh.

As you can see from the pictures, Colin was encouraged to dress as Santa for the journey and, thankfully following more generous support from Martin McHugh, he agreed to walk the 9 miles in full Santa attire. This made the walk even more strenuous for Colin and he was feeling the heat very early into the walk. However, Colin was true to his word and kept the suit on for the full 2 hours and 30 minutes that we were walking. Once again the weather was good to us and it only rained for 30 minutes or so, although I have noticed a significant drop in temperature.

I must give a heart felt thanks to Colin and applaud him for his efforts fundraising and spreading the message of the Hospice as he managed to raise over £1,200 through sponsorship from family and friends Personally, I thank you all as well so far we have raised over £7,500 for the Hospice and we are only halfway through the challenge. I honestly can not thank you enough for the support.

I have two further walks before the end of the year, with the next one being Wednesday 23rd December. I will update you all once again after that.

Thank you and stay safe.

Brian
