250km Challenge in Memory of Kathleen

2 November, 2021

Hospice Supporters, Jacqueline & Wendy have decided to run 250km each throughout November to raise funds for Kilbryde Hospice. The duo have done a few lockdown challenges but this will be their biggest distance yet & their first for charity.

Jacqueline’s mum, Kathleen, passed away after only 7 weeks from her cancer diagnosis and are doing this in her memory 💙

Jacqueline said “The hospice really touched our hearts and made the last few days better for us all. They were so caring and when she did pass we were so touched by what they did and the support they gave us thereafter. My dad, brother & I were so impressed with the hospice and all you do for patients and their families so I wanted to give something back as November sadly marks my mums 6month anniversary and my first birthday without her, so it is a good time to do something positive”.

Jacqueline’s friend, Wendy, has kept her running throughout Kathleen’s illness. Wendy also lost a friend a few years ago who was cared for at Kilbryde Hospice and was very reassuring to Jacqueline’s family that Kilbryde was the best place for their mum to be when they could no longer care for her at home. Wendy is delighted to take on this challenge with her friend!

The family are overwhelmed by the support so far and would like to raise as much money as possible for Kilbryde Hospice, and the team here at Kilbryde wish them the very best of luck!
