Celtic’s third home game of the season meant only one thing – it was time for Martin Kiely to join me on my latest walk to Celtic Park.
Martin is a lifelong friend and has been a huge supporter of the Hospice over the years and was really keen to sign up when I was looking for volunteers to join me. If only I had taking more time to consider his request!
Martin has battled with his own health in the past few years and these underlying health conditions meant we had to take a slightly different route than the two previous walks – meaning over a mile was added to our journey.
Despite this and the dozens of calls Martin received along the way – we made it to Parkhead in under 3 hours. I know that this was a great personal achievement for Martin and his family and friends are all so proud of him. This is reflected by the fantastic £540 raised through donations by many well-wishers.
I would also like to express my personal thanks to Martin for joining me, spreading the Hospice message and congratulate him on completing the walk. I know how hard much work it requires.
The next home fixture is against Livingston on Saturday 19th September when I will be accompanied by Paul James Mooney.
