Despite it being a cold and damp winters morning, I didn’t have the luxury of staying warm indoors. Walk number 7 of the season was upon me and I was fortunate to be joined by close friend Alan Wallis. I have known Alan many years and we take part in the Hospices Andy Cameron Golf Day each year. Sadly we missed the event this year due to the pandemic but we discussed the great times we have had at this event during our walk on and we both hope it can return in 2021.
The walk itself was enjoyable with the rain staying away for the majority of the 2 hours 23 minutes we were out however the pace was far slower than the last few walks so I can only suggested Alans short legs slowed us down.
Alan has been fundraising for the past few months and since he signed up for the challenge has managed to raise over £400. This was helped with a donation from The Removal Company’s John Carruth who sponsored Alan to pull on a Celtic strip for the walk. It was only fitting given the walk finishes at Celtic Park. This wouldn’t be the usual strip of choice for Alan who can often be seen cheering his team on at Ibrox but he knew that the Hospice would benefit from him wearing the Hoops and without a second thought agreed to do so. I must applaud Alan for being such a good sport in aid of the Hospice and I thank him for joining me.
The walk was the first of four in December so please keep your fingers crossed the weather isn’t too severe in the coming weeks. Next weekend I am joined by another close friend Colin Kerr and we may even tie in with this years Virtual Santa Dash which is the same weekend.
Stay Safe
