Heathery Knowe Primary take on the Sunflower Walk!

2 June, 2021

At the end of May, the pupils from Heathery Knowe Primary School took part in our annual Sunflower Walk!

Usually this event is held at the James Hamilton Heritage Loch with various other schools attending on the day but sadly due to the current restrictions this was not permitted.

Kilbryde Hospice reached out to our community to hold their own Sunflower Walk in their very own school playground and we are delighted that the staff and pupils at Heathery Knowe stepped up to the challenge!

Our mascot, Hope, had a great time visiting all the children around the school and nursery building – Hope was even dancing!

Teacher, Audrey Spence, told Lanarkshire Live (who were there on the day to cover the event) “Over two days the children completed the sponsored walk in the rain and the sunshine with smiles on their faces”

Hope also presented the children with their very own sunflower medal and certificate.

A massive thank you to everyone at Heathery Knowe for participating!
