We really are blessed to have passionate and caring volunteers at Kilbryde Hospice who often give there time to ensure that we can continue to offer our support and care to those affected by a life limiting illness. As part of volunteer week some of our volunteers were recognised for giving up their time so selflessly to support the hospice from offering admin support, to offering a warm cup of tea and a chat, working in our retail shops, helping us raise vital funds and for shouting about the hospice!
Some of our nominated volunteers joined other volunteers across South Lanarkshire for a celebration in Hamilton put on by Voluntary Action South Lanarkshire as a thank you for their support within their local communities.
Two of our volunteers were also recgonised for the amazing work they both do in supporting the Hospice. Our Board Member Gretta McGuinness was presented with the Special Recognition Award. Gretta has been on our board since the Kilbryde Hospice Appeal was founded by her late husband, Tony McGuinness. Gretta works tirelessly to help raise not only awareness for the hospice but often comes along to help raise funds too. Gretta is a true champion of the hospice and we’re so lucky to have such an incredible board member. Gretta was presented her award by Deputy Lord Lieutenant Louis Munn.
Maureen who has been volunteering for the hospice for a number of years received Volunteer of the Year Award which was presented by Depute Provost Pam Clearie. Maureen is an all round volunteer offering her support and time in various areas of the hospice. Some of you might recognise her from her knitting stall in Hairmyres on a Tuesday and, recently, Hunter Health Centre. In total Maureen has raised a phenomenal £33,880.73 for Kilbryde Hospice!
Thank you to all of our volunteers across the hospice. You really are at the heart of everything we do. You are our Hospice Heroes!
