Inspiring Enterprise at Kilbryde Hospice

5 August, 2017

This week, we were delighted to welcome entrepreneurial participants of this year’s ‘Inspiring Enterprise’ programme to Kilbryde Hospice.

In partnership with South Lanarkshire Council, Inspiring Enterprise is a programme designed for S4, S5 and S6 pupils in South Lanarkshire to gain experience and skills to assist in their future career paths. The programme is designed similarly to ‘The Apprentice’ and sees participants visit various businesses and complete challenges to gain points. Pupils from Strathaven Academy, St Andrews & St Brides High School, Trinity High School, Duncanrig Secondary School, Calderglen High School, Cathkin High School and Carluke High School all took part in the programme.

We were delighted to welcome the team to Kilbryde Hospice earlier in the week as part of the social enterprise aspect of their programme! After showing the team around the hospice and providing them with some information on our services and our need for support from our local community, the four teams were set the challenge of designing a fundraising event that could be taken back to their school to raise funds, raise awareness and build relationships.

Our fundraising team had the very difficult task of picking the winning team – there were some fantastic ideas and we were delighted to learn that the participants had considered costs and publicity too. The overall winners were team ‘Eureka’, however we were so impressed with ALL of the ideas and we hope to work with the participating schools to make them a reality!
