Kilbryde celebrates Halloween

5 November, 2018

Our friends at Kirriemuir nursery came to Day Service all dressed up for Halloween last Wednesday.

The children visited for spooky stories and Halloween activities, unfortunately, they had a Halloween party planned back at nursery so they couldn’t stay very long. Hope our hospice mascot paid a visit to the Day Services patients and children for pictures and a big group hug!

They sang songs, 6 Little Pumpkins and Incy Wincy Spider! The patients, staff, and volunteers loved the entertainment – there is definitely a few future stars among the Kirriemuir children.

The patients really enjoyed seeing the children dressed up and some of the Day Services staff got involved with the dressing up.

The children left Kilbryde with a goodie bag full of sweeties and headed back to the nursery for another Halloween party.

Most of the patients miss having children coming round to their house. So it was really nice for them to see the children dressed up and they also benefit as they learn more about sharing, building confidence and it encourages multi-generational interaction.

Patients feel a sense of achievement after interacting with the children. It builds their confidence, improves social skills and has a positive effect on their overall wellbeing.

A few words from our Day Services patients…

“It reminds me of when my children dressed up.”

“I always look forward to children coming in – they make my day.”
