Kilbryde Community Choir Nomination!

12 November, 2019

Our very own Kilbryde Community Choir has been nominated for the Community Choir feature on Scala Radio – tune in on Saturday at 7am to Angellica Bell’s Programme on Scala Radio to hear from Clinical Services Manager, Margaret Mary just before 8:30am!

The Kilbryde Community Choir is run by our Music Therapist, Anna Ludwig, and supported by several wonderful volunteers. The choir meet once a week on a Wednesday in the atrium of our purpose built hospice on the grounds of University Hospital Hairmyres in South Lanarkshire.

This choir is run for patients, carers, family members and those who have been bereaved, supported by some members of local choirs. We especially encourage people with breathing difficulties to attend as we are aware of the benefits singing has on helping breathlessness. The choir has a positive impact on the staff and volunteers who are in the hospice building on a Wednesday.

One of our Choir members said; “I have been coming to the Kilbryde Community Choir for a few weeks. I would like to say how enjoyable the choir is thanks to Anna. She makes everyone feel totally welcome and has a brilliant sense of humour. The session is very upbeat and it is the happiest hour of the week. Worries are forgotten for an hour each Wednesday”

We would like to thank everyone who makes our choir so special.
