Kilbryde Hospice would like to say a big thank you to all the lads who participated in our annual Bobby Murdoch Cup on Sunday 4 September.  Over 70 players and fans turned up at Stonelaw Parks, helping to raise £2,000 for Kilbryde Hospice.

There were teams representing the Sportsman Bar, Chapmans, Rutherglen Post Office, The Vogue, Rutherglen Celtic Supporters Club, Kilbryde Hospice and the Murdoch family, who sported the famous green and white hoops.

The G72 and G73 Posties last match against Kilbryde hospice seen them crowned as this year’s Champions and the hospice, led by Chairman Dennis Gallagher, taking runners up.

Organiser Franny Conway was delighted with the turn out along with his cousin Gordon McHugh who is Chief Executive at the hospice. Franny and Gordon cannot thank the Murdoch family enough for allowing everyone involved to honour Rutherglen’s greatest player.

A special thank you to John Crozier for sponsoring the event and putting on the after football party back at Chapman’s bar in Rutherglen. Special thanks also go to John O’Farrell of Celtic Canvas Art for donating a one off print of Bobby raising the European Cup. John also brought the replica European Cup to Chapman’s giving everyone an opportunity to have a photograph taken and donate to the hospice.
