Team Maggie smash target for Kilbryde Hospice

17 July, 2019

We were delighted to receive an amazing donation of £4,560 from ‘Team Maggie’. The funds were raised in memory of Maggie, who used the hospice services earlier in the year. Team Maggie completed this year’s challenging Tough Mudder event and asked friends and family to sponsor them to do so.

Gerard Kennedy (Maggie’s Dad), Karen Ferguson (Maggie’s daughter), Lauren Ferguson (Maggie’s daughter) and Maureen Kennedy (Maggie’s Mum).

Team Maggie, formed of Maggie’s children Lauren Ferguson, Karen Ferguson and Ross Ferguson along with her grandson Jack Ferguson – who took part in the children’s event – and nephew Joseph Kennedy, took on the challenge on Saturday 15th June 2019. They set out to raise £500 and managed to smash their target, raising a phenomenal 912% of their original goal!

Team Maggie
“We are delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for Kilbryde Hospice and are overwhelmed at the support received from everyone who donated. The care and compassion shown by Kilbryde Hospice, not just to Maggie, but to her family and friends who were visiting was outstanding and we cannot thank the hospice enough. The service they provide is second to none and we feel very lucky that this service is available locally.

Mum was loved so much by all her family and friends and is greatly missed. She was also a well-known teacher in East Kilbride and spent many years teaching in St Vincent’s Primary and St Leonard’s Primary as a deputy head teacher, before moving to St Ninian’s Primary to be the head teacher. We know she inspired many people throughout the years and will not be forgotten.”

The team at Kilbryde Hospice would like to express their thanks to Team Maggie and to all who sponsored them. Karlyn Robertson, Assistant Fundraising Manager, added “We are so grateful to Maggie’s family who have raised a phenomenal amount of money for Kilbryde Hospice. We are so pleased to hear that Maggie’s family were comforted by the services provided by our team and for them to now choose to support us is very greatly appreciated.”
